Of the Wilson preparations, the CorpusLuteum was used. We did not complete the experiments withthe Burroughs-Wellcome preparations, as we found that feed-ing experiments were too uncertain.. njections of Wilson It is a well established fact that after castration a definite ~atrophy of the uterus takes place, and it was with the idea ofusing this phenomenon as an indicator that the experiments wereundertaken. We attempted to determine, if by the adminis-tration of these various preparations by intravenous injectionsthe atrophy could be prevented, minimized, or, if possible, hypertrophy could be obtained. At the same time, the breastswere also observed as well as the thyroid, hypophysis and adre-nals, to determine if the administration of these preparations hada definite effect on any of them. Controls were made by subject-ing animals to the same operative procedures, but withoutadministering the drugs. 44 VALUE OF OVARIAN EXTRACTS In the beginning we used 1 ce. of the substance for dailyinjection, but as the animals died after four or five injections, it was decided to increase the time interval between injections, so that 1 cc. was given every third day, beginning from five
