We illustrate herewith a conduit electric railway sys-tem, for which a patent has recently been granted toMr. Daniel OFlaherty, a well-known civil engineer ofKansas City, Mo. The object of the system is to providesuch a construction as will obviate the leakage of cur-rent, to which end a contact with the cable is made suc-cessively by connections interposed between the cableand a contact shoe depending from the car, the inter-posed mechanism being moved out of contact with the.
