Ebers Papyrus. Sample of the Ebers Papyrus, dating back from about 1500 B.C., and one of the earliest surviving documents from Egypt. The Papyrus contains prescriptions written in hieroglyphics for over seven hundred remedies. Among the oldest and most important medical papyri of Ancient Egypt, it was purchased at Luxor in the winter of 1873–1874 by the German Egyptologist Georg Ebers.
