The six Bedding sorts offered below were selected for their com- pact growth and distinct coloring. To secure the longest season of bloom, the seed should be started indoors or in a hot-bed in March or April, or may be sown directly where they are wanted to bloom in May or as soon as the weather has become settled and warm. The seed is very minute, and should be sown practically on the surface of nicely prepared soil and merely pressed in. It will greatly aid in the even dis- tribution of the seed if mixed with sand or flour. For best results the plants should be set about a foot apart, and preferably given a sunny position.
