Chinas railway department is making all-out efforts to serve the Spring Festival travel rush. About 3.62 billion trips will be made during the 40-day rush starting Thursday (16 January 2014), an official said Tuesday. The figure is about 200 million more than the previous year, said Lian Weiliang, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission at a press conference. According to the China Railway Corporation, about 257.8 million people are expected to travel by rail during the 40-day busy transportation season of Spring Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday for family reunions.
