Catholic Martyr, Luke Kirby (1549-1582). He was an English Catholic priest and martyr who was tortured in the Scavenger's Daughter and executed during the reign of Elizabeth .The frame compressed the body and was originally named Skevington's Daughter, after its inventor Sir Leonard Skevington, Lieutenant of the Tower of London. Also known as Skevington's or Skeffington's gyves, the Iron Shackle, the Stork and the Spanish A-frame. Beatified by Pope Leo XIII
