Are you an experienced, analytical and technically focussed SEO looking for an opportunity to use your skills to lead and mentor an international team?

Join Alamy as our brand new Senior Technical SEO Specialist and you’ll use all of your knowledge and experience to provide inspiring leadership to a global, high performing SEO Team.

You’ll work with the Head of Search and SEO to drive SEO performance improvements and manage projects across departments to support the overall growth strategy in Alamy’s ambitious “Route 100” goal.

You’ll be innovative in coming up with scalable SEO strategies and will also be playing an important role in shaping our internal search engine.

What you’ll be doing …

You’ll use your strong passion for technology and drive for high quality to:

  • Build and execute a methodical experimenting framework
  • Work closely with developers to implement fixes and improvements and ensure all new code is SEO friendly
  • Identify areas of improvement in the website structure, internal linking and internal search engine
  • Identify areas of improvement for page speed, core web vitals and mobile friendliness
  • Focus on improving usability and discoverability
  • Analyse the stock photography market and our competitors and highlighting challenges and opportunities for growth
  • Collaborate with Development, UX, Product and Marketing (PPC and Affiliates) to develop strategies informed by search opportunities, keyword analysis and intent signals
  • Automate repetitive processes and proactively learn about new technologies and ways of working
  • Conduct investigations and analyses to solve problems or backup your ideas by data
  • Monitor our backlink profile and find patterns of potentially harmful links
  • Define KPIs and success metrics around technical SEO efforts and monitor ongoing performance
  • Continuous learn about technical SEO and keep up with industry news and updates
  • Build strong working relationships with developers, designers, and other colleagues to ensure SEO is at the forefront of their thinking
  • Be an active participant inside different "pods" and get a better insight into the business as well as help other business members get a better understanding of SEO
  • Coach your less senior team members and advocate SEO best practices across the business.

The Person:

Are you ...

  • Able to demonstrate proven technical SEO experience with a focus on ecommerce?
  • Highly analytical and comfortable working with large data sets, manipulating the data to spot trends, errors and correlations as well as be able to consistently provide accurate numbers?
  • Methodical and logical, a critical thinker who enjoys investigative work and problem-solving?
  • An excellent communicator able to make yourself understood to technical and non-technical stakeholders?
  • Knowledgeable around website speed optimisation techniques and mobile friendliness?

Do you have ...

  • A strong understanding of how search engines work, what ranking factors are and what the latest search engine best practices are?
  • Excellent understanding of crawling and indexing and a strong grip on the challenges of enterprise-level crawling and able to analyse log file data and find potential crawl budget waste?
  • Strong understanding of International SEO and hreflang implementation?
  • Experience of analysing organic growth issues/opportunities and devising recommendations?

Technically you’ll need demonstrable experience of …

  • Javascript SEO, server side and client side rendering as well as being aware of most common JS SEO issues
  • Google guidelines regarding sitemaps, robots.txt, disavow files and usage of SEO HTML tags and attributes
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Regex
  • SERPs, rich results and structured data
  • Google Analytics and Google Search Console for finding issues/opportunities
