This fog, as well as frequent wind, emanates from the Pacific Ocean, which has a considerable effect on the temperature of Point Reyes Peninsula. The 60-yr mean January temperature at the Lighthouse was 9.8° C, while the mean July temperature was 12.1° C as reported by the U.S. Weather Bureau (1941)..
