After being wrecked near Qawra Point on the 10th February 2018 the owner of the oil tanker MT Hephaestus decided it would not be worth repairing, so the Maltese Government decided to scuttle it and sink it for divers. This was done on the 29th August 2022 near Xatt L-Ahmar in Gozo, Malta. It starts at a depth of about 30m and goes beyond 40m. These pictures were taken exactly one week after it was sunk. The line to the buoy was edited out of this picture for more symmetry, for the picture with the line see Image ID 2JY399N.
