Evacuations in Hawaii following volcanic eruption

On 3rd May, Kilauea volcano on Big Island, Hawaii began to erupt. Throughout May, the eruption has continued, culminating evacuations of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the surrounding residential areas. On Wednesday 30th May, authorities released a statement that an estimated 75 homes had so far been consumed by the lava, with 200-foot-high lava flows spewing rock and feeding

Overnight on 31st May concerns arose that the fast-flowing lava may trap any residents who remain on the island.

The Royals spend another month in the limelight

On 19th May, Harry and Meghan took centre stage as 11.5 million people tuned in to watch their big day. Crowds flooded the streets around Windsor to catch a glimpse of the couple and a whole array of celebrity guests. For those who couldn’t make it to London, the celebrations didn’t stop as street parties and gatherings took place worldwide!

President Trump pulls the US out of ‘insane’ nuclear deal

Trump announced on 8th May that he was withdrawing the US from the Iran nuclear deal. He claimed if he let the deal stand, “there soon would be a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.” The US, UK, Russia, France, China, Germany and the EU signed the deal to ensure Iran’s nuclear programme was peaceful. Trump’s decision signals a significant loss for all countries involved and former President Obama warns Trump it’s “a big mistake”.
