New Year celebrations to welcome 2018

As the new year arrived, people around the world took part in celebrations to bring in 2018. For some, this meant a nice firework display or a glass or two of champagne. For others, like those in China for example, it signalled a prime opportunity to build hundreds of snowmen around a giant snowman to greet the new year.

The 60th Annual Grammy Awards 2018

For the first time since 2003, the star-studded award ceremony took place outside of Los Angeles. The Grammy Awards headed to a new venue for 2018, uprooting itself from LA and traveling to Madison Square Garden, New York. Despite a whole host of worthy winners, it was Bruno Mars who stole the show, picking up 6 awards on the night.

It wasn’t just Bruno in the limelight, however, in a night packed full of empowering and bold political statements from the celebs. One key example was a number of the celebrities choosing to wear white roses on the red carpet, to show support for the #TimesUp movement. Read this article from TeenVogue for more political statements from the night.
