Automobile Association (AA) roadside emergency telephone box, situated near Dunmail Raise on the A591, north of Grasmere, Cumbria. The AA telephone boxes first appeared in 1912 and from 1920 to the 1970s, enabled members of the AA to contact the roadside breakdown organisation to request assistance. A few still remain across the UK, non-operational, such as this box number 487, which is a protected grade II listed building. This image has no model or property releases assigned to it and is intended for editorial only use.
