An official residence destroyed during the Spartacist Uprising. The Spartacist uprising was an armed uprising in Berlin from 5 to 12 January 1919. It was primarily a power struggle between the supporters of the provisional government which favored a social democracy, and those of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) led by Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, which wanted to set up a soviet republic similar like the Bolsheviks in Russia.
