An officer of the World Record Association confirms the length of scrolls of calligraphy named Lotus Sutra created by Ye Zhaojing at Zhongyuan Temple in Suzhou, east Chinas Jiangsu province, 9 August 2013. A 380.16-meter long scroll of calligraphy named Lotus Sutra created by Ye Zhaojing, one of the members of Suzhou City Calligraphers Association, was recently issued the Certificate of World Record by the World Record Association in Suzhou, east Chinas Jiangsu province. The scroll took Ye Zhaojing 70 days to finish. This script replication boasts a total of 7.1 million words, which has been framed into 19 volumes. Previously, the worlds longest Buddhist calligraphy scroll was in Taiwan, with a length of 200 meters. So Ye wanted to write a scroll, so that the two could become twin volumes. In early August, World Record Association awarded Ye Zhaojing the Certificate of World Record (Certificate No. 11319-1307-01). Ye Zhaojing hope the two volumes can be displayed together to facilitate the cultural exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.
