A sabre à la Mameluke, 2nd half of the 19th century. Curved pipe-back Damascus steel blade with a pandour point, lavishly etched and gilded at the forte, with "Eisenhauer" inscribed on the obverse side, and Damaststahl" (Damascus Steel) on the reverse side. Gold-plated brass hilt with floral ornamentation in relief and ivory grip scales, one slightly damaged. Black leather scabbard with brass mountings also gilded and decorated en suite.
