A farrier setting a hot horse shoe, process is called hot shoeing, typically used on larger hoofed horses. once the shoe is set by burning off the high points of the hoof it is perfectly fit to the horse. this does not hurt the horse in any way. this photo is prior to heating the shoe, the farrier is sizing the shoe first for best fit. photo in black and white
