A catfish wall. Mozambique: THESE INCREDIBLE images show off a school of catfish forming a wall along the seafloor, like a cloud of fish. One image shows a wall of catfish showing off their feeding method, rotating to scour the sea floor and watch out for predators in a big catfish wheel. The striped eel catfish school as a foraging technique, grinding their food like a giant rotary machine. When touched, their pectoral and first dorsal find deliver highly toxic venom that is fatal to humans. These images were taken by economist, senior director and photographer Luca Crudeli (50) in Nacala, Mozambique using a Sony A1 camera. ?The most interesting pictures of this type of fish are from the front of the school, trying to get all fish pointing in one direction and being as aligned as possible, ? said Luca. ?This requires lots of patience and a long lens so that the school does not scatter because it is frightened by your presence. ?Prior to these shots, I hid behind a large rock, with a 100mm long lens. I then slowly came out once the school was closer to me and pointing in the right direction. ?If the shots show a relaxed animal, it means that you have approached it correctly and that the animal is not afraid of you. ?It means you have been able to establish a relationship of trust. ?What I like is being able to do so. To enter the animal?s area of comfort and just sit there with them. Just be.? mediadrumimages/LucaCrudeli
