A Burgundian knife from a courtly carving set, mid-15th century, Sturdy single-edged blade, the base and back of the blade engraved with partially gilt tendril ornaments with remnants of bluing. Rock crystal grip, cracked near the pommel. Grip ferrule and pommel made of brass with remnants of gilding, grip sleeves decorated with openwork tracery. Length 35.5 cm. Rare knife, commonly manufactured together with a serving knife.
