Built in 1935, the Dee Wright Observatory is located at McKenzie Pass, Oregon & offers a view of the vast lava flows created from nearby Little Belknap, Belknap Crater, & Yapoah Crater. It is a popular stopping point along Highway 242, being built out of the local lava rock w/ an azimuth peak finder on top. From here on can see Mt. Washington to the north, Belknap Crater & Little Belknap, & of course Middle & North Sisters in the Three Sisters Wilderness. The lava flows themselves are dated at 2,000 3,000 years young on the geologic scale.
