1960s, historical, outside in the fresh air, an infant child sitting in an elegant two-tone coach-built pram or baby carriage of the era, a Royale, Made in England. With its high, spring-suspension body and large spoke wheels behind smaller wheels, the Royale of London was a luxury coach-built pram. Royale was the brand name of the 'Royale Baby Carriage Co' of Nunhead Grove, London, founded in 1930 by brothers Alf & Frank Saward. Beautiful baby carriages such as the Royale declined in use from the 1970s as cheaper, lighter prams and more convenient collapsible prams took over the market.
