1885 ca , LONDON , GREAT BRITAIN : The english woman writer MARY AUGUSTA WARD ( 1851 - 1920 ) . Photo by Barraud , London . Born ARNOLD used the name " Mrs HUMPHRY WARD " for his books after the marriage with the author and journalist Thomas Humphry Ward ( 1845 - 1926 ) . She was also a significant campaigner against women getting the vote and not supported SUFFRAGGISM . In a 1909 article in The Times, Ward wrote that constitutional, legal, financial, military, and international problems were problems only men could solve. However, she came to promote the idea of women having a voice in local government and other rights that the men's anti-suffrage movement would not tolerate. - LETTERATO - SCRITTORE - SCRITTRICE - LETTERATURA - Literature - PORTRAIT - RITRATTO - FASHION - MODA - XIX CENTURY - 800's - '800 - BELLE EPOQUE - GRAND BRETAGNA --- Archivio GBB
