Its very hard and dirty work. First hard wood is cut in to logs ( two or three feet long ) built into a stack up to about the height of a man. This is then covered with bracken, staw or other vegetation and then very carefully covered with ashes and earth to form a clamp, with some holes around the sides and on top.
