Description
|
Built between 1594 and 1627 in the style of the Lublin Renaissance, St. Michael’s was commissioned as a family mausoleum by Leonas Sapiega, Chancellor and Grand Hetman of Lithuania. The church currently houses the small Museum of Architecture. To the right of the altar is the funerary monument of Sapiega and his two wives. Note the extraordinary rosette ceiling, the finest example of its kind in the country. |
