Description Disc jockey Alan 'Fluff' Freeman CBE (1998), best known as the presenter of 'Pick of the Pops' for the BBC Light Programme (later BBC Radio 1) from 1961, was also one of the three original presenters of BBC television's 'Top of the Pops'. He was born in Melbourne Australia on 6 July 1927 and died in London on 27 November 2006, aged 79. John Peel said he was 'the greatest out-and-out disc jockey of them all.' (See also image ABREC9)
