Charadrius hiaticula Description This particular time I was able to collect the eggs and keep them warm enough by placing them on a dark rag and putting them on the bonnet of my car for the hour it took for the tide to go down far enough to be able to scrape sand away from where the nest 'was' and replace the eggs. The next tide would not be so high and fortunately, this time, the parent returned and the eggs did hatch. I was camping nearby and was aware of what might have happened that day.
