Description
|
Monument to the Discoveries situated just a half mile from the world famous Belem Tower alongside the river Tagus. This monument is visited by millions of people each year to view is impressiveness which is 50 metres high. A large compass is cut into the pavement surrounding the monument which was a present from South Africa. It evoques the maritime expansion and is designed in the shape of a caravel, showing Henry the Navigator at the prow holding a small caravel. |
