Description
|
Pont de Rastel is just outside of the Cevenol town of Chamborigaud in France. Its past prosperity was based upon silk. The Cévennes region of france was famous in the last century for silk production. A local industry was based upon raising the silk worms and then turning their cocoons into raw silk. The silk industry fell into decline due to cheap imports and the decline of the mulberry trees in the region which supplied the leaves to feed the silk worms. |
