Description
Umm el Jimal is an ancient Byzantine town located in the desert north-east of the Jordanian capital Amman. Large private houses predominate, but there are also fifteen churches from the sixth and seventh centuries, a Praetorium, a Barracks, gates and numerous reservoirs. You can see Christian crosses engraved on the arches of one of the larger churches. Most of the buildings were constructed of black basalt. |
