|
Description
|
This ship is a replica of the historic sailing vessel, Pilgrim, which was the setting for Richard Henry Dana's "Two Years Before The Mast" - a non-fiction diary of his adventures from 1834 to 1836, sailing from Boston, around Cape Horn, to California, which was then part of Mexico. The book was published in 1840. Dana later became a prominent abolitionist who helped found the Free Soil Party. The ship was 180 tons and 86.5 feet long. |
