Hampton Court 2005 Berkshire College of Agriculture Trinity - the ubiquity of three Designer: Anita Applegarth Contractor: Berkshire College of Agriculture Winners of last year’s Best Small Garden award at the show, this year the students are back with a design inspired by the timeless concept of Trinity - i.e. three distinct elements combining to make a united whole. Trinity emphasises both singularity and harmony, independence and interdependence. Planting is laid out in a unifying but subtle theme of Trinity. Vibrancy of the planting seeks to contrast with the static calmer nature of the central sculpture made up of three pale towering columns which are set in a pool of dark water enclosed by three benches laid out in the form of a trefoil, an ancient symbol of Trinity. |
