Alamy Search Engine
Released in July 2007, Alamy Search Engine 1.0 is an important milestone for our company. This new system has been developed by our in-house engineering team to meet the challenges of a rapidly growing image collection and to be compatible with the next generation of tools and features on our site. Our goal is to deliver a more precise search experience for our customers and give our contributors greater control over how their images are indexed by the system.
We have deliberately kept the launch of this system low key because although we are very excited about it, version 1.0 does not affect the order and quality of the search results in a significant way. Our new annotation system (a tool that lets our contributors keywords their images online) is also scheduled for launch in this quarter. We anticipate that the search results will begin to look different once our contributors have started to respond to the new annotation options.
