Alamy has been working since 2004 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from air travel and electricity use.

We realise that a much bigger commitment is necessary to reduce the impact the company has on the environment. To this end we have launched a number of new initiatives to help us achieve our goal of making the company greenhouse gas neutral.

The table below shows the amount of greenhouse gases the company has released into the atmosphere through the flights we make and the electricity we use. We have decided to publish the figures to illustrate how our growing business is affecting the environment.

CEO James West said: “It is important to recognise the relationship between economic growth and environmental impact. We want to be transparent about our emissions and what we are doing to tackle the problem.”

We plan to update the figures as we pursue new and more effective ways of reducing the impact our activities have on the environment.

Annual Estimated Emissions (Metric Tonnes)
Year Flights Electricity Total
2004 104 156 260
2005 151 176 327
2006 143 189 332
