The infamous gallows were situated at a crossroad in what was then the village of Tyburn in the parish of Marylebone, but is now a part of London near Marble Arch.. All hangings were viewed by the public who knew the place colloquially as'The Tyburn Tree' or 'Gods Tribunal' . Oxford Street was previously Tyburn Road (in the mid 1700s) and Edgware Road and Park Lane was known as Tyburn Lane. The 1st execution here was recorded in 1196 and the last in 1783 (on a new moveable gallows)
