Decorations awarded to Countess Teresa Lubienska, murdered heroine of the Polish resistance, are seen on her coffin as it is borne from Brompton Oratory after the Requiem Mass. The 77 year old Countess, was stabbed to death at Gloucester Road Underground station on Friday May 24th 1957, was posthumously awarded the Golden Cross of Merit with Swords for her services to the Polish resistance movement. After the Requiem Mass the coffin was taken to Brompton Cemetery for interment. Her killer was never caught.
