What currencies does Alamy support?
Alamy currently supports US dollars, Pounds Sterling and Euros. You will be asked to choose your preferred currency for viewing prices and payments when you register.
You can change to a different currency at any time by:
- Clicking on the My Alamy link at the top of the page
- Then clicking Change your login details
Calculating the price
You can calculate the price for an image before or after you add it your shopping cart. Simply click on the calculate price icon next to the image you want to purchase.
You can recalculate the price at anytime until you proceed to checkout by clicking on the link.
Calculating the price for Royalty Free images (RF)
- You will be asked to select a file size. See Choosing the right file size for stock photos for more guidance on which size to select for your intended usage
- Once you have a price, click the (insert shopping cart icon) to add the image to your shopping cart.
The prices of our Royalty Free images are set by our contributors and do vary across the suppliers.
Calculating the price for Rights Managed images
The options you choose in the calculator will determine the price and the terms of your licence. The key below explains each of the drop down menus displayed in our price calculator:
Image use - the basic use for the image.
Details of that use - more information on how the image will be used.
Image size - the size of the image on your layout page (in proportion to the overall size of the page).
Print run - the total number of printed copies you are producing.
Inserts - the number of newspaper/magazine editions your piece is appearing in.
Placement - where the image will appear in a brochure/pamphlet/periodical.
Starting date - the date you will start circulating the work containing the image.
Duration - the length of time the image will be in use.
Territory - the geographical region where the image is to be distributed (not where you are buying the image from).
Country - the country within the territory where the image is to be distributed.
Product industry - the main business area of the product/service you are promoting. This field is mandatory and enables us to provide rights control on some of the licensed images.
Industry details - this field is mandatory and details the product/service you are promoting.
At the bottom of the shopping cart you will see these features:
Apply this usage to all licensed images in your cart - This allows you to apply the same licence details to all the images in your cart.
Add another licence to this image - This allows you to calculate another licence for the same image while saving the licence you have already calculated.
FAQs
- Can I buy the image for exclusive use?
- The price I need is not on the calculator, what should I do?
- What should I do if I want to use an image in a new project or extend the rights on an existing licence?
It’s possible that the image you have selected may be available for exclusive use. Exclusivity generally incurs a greater fee and in order to broker the best deal for you and our contributor you will need to liaise with your account handler or our customer service team.
There may be occasions when your intended usage is not available as a standard licence. Your account handler or our customer service team will be able to guide you in finding the best or most appropriate licence or set of licences for your requirements.
Please contact your account manager or our customer service team to check whether the image is available for re-license of additional rights.
Discounting
From time to time Alamy runs seasonal offers. Please look out for these on our website or contact our customer service team for more information. We may also be able to provide discounts for bulk purchases of more than 5 images and for images purchased by registered charities.
If you will be making regular purchases from Alamy, we will assign you an account manager to discuss your requirements and, if appropriate, reflect these in a pricing agreements more in-line with your specific needs.
