Manage images
Your images have successfully passed through quality control and are almost ready to sell. Now you need to annotate your images before we can make them available for sale. The information you provide will determine how well an image performs and may affect the income you earn by directly influencing how and where an image is found, its price and salability. Please make sure you annotate honestly and accurately, not only to secure sales, but to gain and maintain customer confidence.
You have all the tools you need to annotate your images in the Manage Images section of your account.

Link to “Manage images” in “My Alamy”
- Go to My Alamy
- Under "Organise images", click
"Manage Images".
Managing your images
- Annotate your images by:
- choosing a licence.
- providing release information.
- adding restrictions.
- creating pseudonyms.
- indicating whether an image is a cut out, digitally altered or an illustration.
- adding captions, keywords and descriptions.
- using additional annotation options.
- When you have added all mandatory fields (identified by a *) and saved the changes the image status on the right hand side will change to Ready. All Ready images will automatically become On Sale when Alamy’s search engine next updates.
- You can revisit your images to add or delete images, change keywords and pseudonyms at any time.
The batch edit tool
The batch edit tool within Manage Images allows you to add information to multiple images at once. You can add attributes, licence types, captions etc to a whole series of images at the click of a button. Simply drag the images you wish to work on down to the batch edit window, click your required option on the batch edit toolbar and away you go.
Things to remember:
- You can't view existing keywords within the batch edit view. To view exisitng keywords double click on an image to open single edit view.
- All changes to annotation will be reflected on the search engine within 24 hours (excluding weekends).
- The batch editing tool overwrites all existing data in the selected fields across the whole batch. This cannot be reversed so please be careful.
- To remove all images currently in the batch edit window click "Clear Batch". DO NOT click "Delete all in Batch" as this will delete all selected images from Alamy.
- Adding or removing single words to or from existing data is not yet supported by this tool when in batch edit mode.
Use the batch editing tool to:
- Apply the same captions and keywords across a group of images.
- Apply the same attributes, including licence type and pseudonym, across a group of images.
- Apply the same location and date to a group of images.
- Mark a group of images for deletion.
- Add/remove restrictions across a group of images.
