With 90% of submissions received passing Quality Control (QC), this demonstrates that the vast majority of contributors have no problem getting their images through our QC procedures.

What does this actually mean though? What are the benefits? Well the successful 90% of contributors see their work available in their ‘My Alamy’ pages ready for annotation and key-wording within an average of 23 hours from upload. Thus allowing their images to reach a wide audience quickly and effectively.

Unfortunately for the other 10% of contributors it’s a different story. Failing QC on a regular basis means that your work is even more closely scrutinised than a contributor who passes QC. At present if you fail QC your submissions will be stored in our batch fail process, where you will have to wait up to 14 working days to receive a notice of the submission failure and details of the corresponding failure reason.

This is the most effective way for us to work giving the maximum benefit to those contributors who have passed QC.

If you are a contributor who regularly fails QC there are steps you can take to improve your workflow so this doesn’t continue to happen. Submitting imagery that is not suitable for Alamy or images that are produced by unsuitable cameras as well as continually failing QC can result in account freezing for a period of 6 months, or in severe cases, being terminated altogether.

Despite dealing with record numbers of submissions, it is reassuring to know that in the last quarter of 2010 we didn’t receive any image quality complaints from any of our customers.
