To keep in line with the growing trend in the industry and to validate the release values assigned to images on Alamy, we are now accepting digital copies of model and property releases.
In the latest version of Manage Images (v2.4), if you state you have a model or property release, you will be prompted to upload and assign it to make an image available for sale. This is only mandatory for new images but we recommend you also upload and assign releases to images you already have on Alamy.
To keep things simple the process has been integrated into the Manage Images tool with the following features:
- Multiple formats - we will accept both JPEGs and PDFs.
- Batch facility - assign releases to single images or groups of images.
- Upload once - access previously uploaded releases and apply them to other images in your collection.
Storing digital releases will have important benefits:
- Attaching releases to your images will help to increase your reach and appeal to our growing customer base in advertising and design.
- We can more swiftly supply releases to customers who require them since we will no longer need to track down contributors to get hold of a release.
This new requirement will not prevent you submitting Rights Managed images which are not released. These images are still suitable for our editorial clients. Images featuring neither people nor property can be Rights Managed or Royalty Free.
We provide downloadable model and property release forms, but you do not have to use these. You must ensure any other forms you use are legally binding.
We haven't made any changes to our customer facing site but as the number of releases grows we will be considering how best to communicate the existence of an uploaded release to our customers.
Alamy takes issues of privacy very seriously, any releases that are shared with customers will have contact and other information obscured.
As we continue to make inroads into the commercial market this move puts us in an even stronger position to help maximise revenue from our creative clients.
We have produced a short tutorial video below which may help you when using these tools
