An AlamyRank is calculated for each pseudonym. All images within a pseudonym are assigned this rank.
Currently the AlamyRank(s) for your pseudonym(s) are calculated approximately every 100 days. At this point, our system looks at the activity of the images over the previous 300 days and this data is used to calculate your rank(s).
If you move an image to an existing pseudonym, it inherits the AlamyRank of that pseudonym, until the next recalculation. New pseudonyms are assigned the median AlamyRank.
The data stays attached to the image and is not lost. It is then used to help calculate the pseudonym’s AlamyRank at the next 100 day point.
The position in which images appear in the search results is determined through a combination of your AlamyRank, the Diversity Algorithm and additional factors, including relevancy. For more information on AlamyRank see our help pages.
