What does the new search engine do that is different to the old one?

I noticed a reshuffle of my images during July but couldn't figure out any basis or logic beyond the re-ordering? Was that the arrival of the new search engine?

    Sound encouraging :-)

Last year, I was told this was in progress. It has taken many times longer than I expected, based on my personal experiences, expertise and educated guess on th tasks needed.

Could the new search engine be "tuned" to deal with alternative spellings? (eg harbour/harbour). Guidelines on the precise stemming rules by the SE would be appreciated to cut keywording effort. walk = walked but not walker

Not much change as far as I can see. It still thinks that 'cows' includes 'Cowes"

Natural language processing is never easy. The following simple rules for contributors and buyers may help.

    - Use only singular when keywording and searching
    - Use Capital or quoting multi-word terms which are constant and not to be interpreted or changed.
    - Alamy keywording and searching engine will do a American/English variation lookup and concert to whatever version alamy chooses to use.
    - Facilitate usage of very simple trailing wildcards in searching (eg *)

    Not much to it really.

I appreciate that my pictures are found with my name now. It was impossible with the former search engine.

On Getty and other search engines one can type 'light' into the search bar, and the next step asks if you mean 'weight' or 'natural phenomenon', among others.
Likewise with 'ship': 'nautical vessel' or 'freight transportation'?
In my case, I would like to tell people who ask to see my images to type my name in the searchbar. Unfortunately, typing 'Paul Collis' brings up my images plus about 100 shots of collie dogs, which have nothing to do with me.
(Adding 'NOT dog' removes most, but also removes MY images of dogs.)
Perhaps adding the option 'photographer' would be a way to solve that problem.
Or just make the engine more accurate; where's the 'e' in 'collis'?
