The Quality Control process allows us to check this has been done effectively and ensures that the images presented to our clients are of the highest technical quality. To achieve this, our in-house QC team of professional photographers employ strict yet realistic QC criteria and view all images at 100%.
We have recently been looking at ways to more clearly outline our QC requirements and to indicate why any of your submissions may have been rejected. We’ve made some changes to the way in which we assess your submissions, but our QC failure reasons remain the same.

We’ve improved our help pages and added visual examples of the most common QC failure reasons we see. We hope you will find these pages useful.
Our QC procedure
For new contributors we now ask for 4 images, and all of these must pass QC for the submission to be accepted. We provide feedback on any images which did not meet our criteria to help contributors rectify any problems we found.
For subsequent submissions we will continue to assess a sample of images received. If the images we assess meet our submission guidelines then all images in your submission will be accepted. If however, we find any problems, we make the assumption that these are representative of the entire submission and will reject all media Awaiting QC. We’ve adopted the term Zero Tolerance to describe this policy, which may sound harsh but is in place to ensure that our clients will never have a quality issue with an image.
QC Feedback
In the past it may have not been very clear why a submission has failed QC. We’ve made two changes to address this:
- For test submissions, we now list rejection reason(s) alongside failed image(s) in the e-mail you receive after QC.
- The Track Submissions page in My Alamy has been improved. The new design makes it easier to see whether your submissions passed or failed QC. By clicking on a media that has been rejected, you will be able to sort by rejection reason and see the rejection reason given for a submission. These rejection reasons will hyperlink to our website for you to see visual examples of failure reasons.
These changes will make it easier for you to see any problems we found so that you can rectify the problem and resubmit. When resubmitting a failed submission, please remember to check all of your images at 100%, looking for all possible QC failure reasons.
